“The only truth is music” – Jack Kerouac
Okay, so, plain and simple – I just really appreciate and enjoy all types of music! I feel there’s no common denominator between all the songs I like, except that they all happen to have a beat. For me, music triggers a mood, a feeling or a memory. It can be calming and therapeutic. It can be super motivating as well – it motivates me when I’m instructing a class, running; even when I’m just cleaning the house or driving my kids around.
Here is just a very small fraction of some of my favorite songs, just to give you an example of my extremely random range of music taste. I listed the first 3 words that come to mind when I hear each song – what they make me think of and how they make me feel. Maybe you’ll be inspired to think about some of your all time favorite songs too and give them a listen.
rockabilly, dance, talent
best friend, boys, skaters
party, dance (again!), friends
Good Fellas movie, New York City, Summer
Mad Men, cool vibes, artful
best friend (again!), shenanigans, Volkswagon
Clueless movie, Newbury Street, friends (again!)
first barre3 playlist, cool voice, dance (again!)
rocking my baby to sleep, retro, classic
running, winning, inspiring
So I noticed “dance” and “friends” is a recuring theme between all these songs, maybe that’s why I like them so much. My kids love music too, we rock it out quite often! I’m grateful music is a daily part of our lives, and I love how it can create a smile when you hear something you love.
